Ajala Returns to Torquay

Toby Ajala has returned to Torquay United on a deal until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old had a successful campaign at The Launa Windows Stadium last term where his skill and ability made him a firm favourite both on and off-the-field.

Having impressed in the non-League game, he was given an opportunity at Hull City in 2011 before going on to turn out for Hayes & Yeading United having failed to make the breakthrough into the Tigers’ first-team.

Joining Bristol City in 2012/13, he was loaned out to AFC Wimbledon before being released from Ashton Gate after a handful of outings and signing for Welling United.

Arriving at Torquay in the summer of 2014, he did well during the course of last season and attracted plenty of interest before joining up with Dover Athletic earlier this term.

“Toby fits into everything that we are looking for,” said player-manager, Kevin Nicholson. “He’s fit, enthusiastic, works hard and has plenty of ability.

“What’s more, he has a tremendous attitude and desperately wants to be here and help the club get out of trouble.

“His return strengthens us and gives us options. I am looking forward to having him out there on the pitch doing the business for us.

“Everyone knows that he has the ability, it’s a case of him settling down and getting regular games under his belt.

“This is a fresh start for him; he knows the place well and that will help him hit the ground running.”

Meanwhile,Torquay have extended the loan of Aman Verma from Kidderminster Harriers until the end of the season.

The midfielder has been in good form since his arrival in November and weighed in with his first goal for the club in our last game.

“It’s a massive plus for us to have Aman until the end of the season,” said Nicholson. “He’s an athlete and a fantastic professional who has fitted in really well here.

“He also gives us options as he can play in any one of five or six different positions.

“I look forward to him continuing his good form with us and helping us to kick-on.”
