Ainsley Won't Criticise Spennymoor Squad

Spennymoor Town manager Jason Aisley refused to read the riot act to his players despite their worst performance of the season.

The club’s long serving manager wasn’t impressed by his team’s display after losing 3-1 to Andy Morrell’s Tamworth.

Spennymoor made a great start to the Vanarama National League season following promotion from the Evo-Stik League but they are now five games without a win. That fact frustrates the manager.

But he told the National League’s Oli Osborn that he won’t hold an inquest into the defeat - instead they’ll just look to bounce back quickly against North Ferriby United.

“The best team won, it’s as simple as that,” Ainsley said. “I just don’t think we turned up and we have no complaints about the result. That was the first time that’s been the case this season so I can’t go in too hard on the players.

“We gifted them too many goals and it wasn’t a good day at the office. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb.

“We didn’t get too carried away when we were doing well so we won’t get too down when we lose a bit of form. We know where we are, we can’t be too hard on them.”

It’s bottom club North Ferriby next on Tuesday night and fans will expect the Moors to get back to winning ways.

“We have now got to dig in, dust ourselves down and go again,” Ainsley added. “North Ferriby aren’t getting turned over, so it is going to be a tough game.

“Any team can beat anybody. We need to make sure that we’re focus and ready for a totally different kettle of fish than we faced at Tamworth.”
