Spennymoor Town's boss Jason Ainsley says his side deserve to be in the Vanarama National League North, writes Tom Feaheny.
The Moors are ready for the big kick-off with Ainsley knowing what a prestigious league they are in.
"To think we will be competing in the same league as several ex football league clubs, with fantastic stadiums and great support is a massive excitement going into the season.
"The league is going to be extremely tough but expectations will be totally different for us this season which will maybe help the players play with extra freedom.
The manager of the North-East side believes that momentum truly is with the club both on and off the pitch.
"What the chairman has done for this club under his guidance has been amazing and I think you can feel the feel good factor when we came back to training.
"There is a real buzz around the place and hopefully the three promotions in four years will keep the momentum going. To be promoted from the Evo-Stik league which is an extremely hard league to get out of with excellent clubs and managers will hopefully stand us in good stead for the coming season. "
With pre-season now finished Ainsley is pleased with the progress that has been made.
"The new lads have gelled really well with the existing players and the quality of the sessions Tommy Miller and Alan White have been putting on have been excellent with a real high tempo."
"The lads we have brought to the club have fitted in great not only on the pitch but off it and have settled in really well. It's important you try to bring in the right players in terms of attitude and we have cast our net a lot further this season with a few players we have acquired."
Ainsley admits that that opening game against Stockport County will be one that means a lot to him.
"For me to be walking out and leading Spennymoor Town in the sixth tier of English football is going to be an emotional day, testing ourselves against some of the best non league players and manages in the country is going to be a real challenge.
