Ainsley: August Shows Spennymoor's Progression

Spennymoor have lost just once in their opening seven games in the Vanarama National League North.

Jason Ainsley admits taking two points from their last two games and being disappointed shows the progress the club has made, writes Tom Feaheny.

Town are currently fifth in the table and just five points off top place.

Ainsley spoke to the club's website about their recent results and how pleased he has been with their performances against side fighting for promotion.

"We have played two top teams in Salford and Darlington and gained two points and are a bit disappointed that just shows you how far this team has come."

He added: "We have defended so well, we had some good chances in the matches as well."

After this impressive start Ainsley says it is very much down to the effort the group have shown from match one.

"The lads who came in worked their socks off, they have given us everything since the start of the season, you have to give them credit."

They next face Gainsborough Trinity as they look to extend their unbeaten home start to the season.
