AFC Telford Bring In Defender Following Shrews Release

AFC Telford United have signed central defender Dominic Smith until the of the season.

Capped by Wales at under-19 and under-21 international level, Smith joined the Shrewsbury Town youth system at the age of 7 and signed his first professional contract in February 2014 and spent most of the following season on loan at the Bucks` league rivals Tamworth.

Twenty-two-year-old Smith made his League debut for Shrewsbury in October 2015 playing in a 4-2 win over Colchester United.

Smith has also had enjoyed successful spells at National League sides Barrow AFC and Southport, for whom he made twenty-three appearances earlier this season before returning to the Shrews and being released earlier this week.

AFC Telford manager Rob Edwards told the club`s official website: “I am delighted to have secured the signing of Dom until of the season, he is local player we have been interested in for some time as he has experience at this level and above. He joins us with the right attitude and hunger to succeed and help the club remain in the National League North”.
