AFC Fylde Are Falling Into The Same Old Traps

Improving concentration levels as well as the club's defensive record is top of the list of priorities at AFC Fylde this week.

The Vanarama National League North champions have yet to savour victory in their new home of the National League.

Although they have drawn four of their first five matches, the number of goals going in their own net is a problem for the Coasters.

Another 2 on Saturday means it's 12 let in already....and the alarm bells are ringing for their head coach.

A costly late equaliser for the second week in a row ended their chances of taking maximum points against Dagenham and Redbridge FC on Saturday.

"It was lazy minds," said the unhappy Fylde manager David Challinor after the 2-2 draw.

"We really do have enough experience without our team to deal with that (Dagenham's equalising goal) and people not doing their jobs bites you on the back side. It's not the first time.

"The smallest player on the pitch stooping to score after we have cleared a corner is not acceptable."

Getting their defensive record right is something the manager is looking to address.

Challinor continued: "We have to improve our focus. We are letting in far too many goals and that has to stop if we are going to have a good season."

Where next?

Lewer: Good Run Down To Workrate Alan Lewer praised the way his Southport side have played after they made it five games unbeaten to start their season.
Harrison: We Didn't Take Advantage Of Our Play Hartlepool United now have two points from their opening five matches after a 2-0 loss away at Bromley and their manager says they need to work harder.
