A Tale Of Tremendous Turn Arounds For Our South Stars!

By Sam Elliott

It wasn’t so long ago that Yeovil Town and Hampton & Richmond Borough fans were worried by what this season would bring.

October has totally changed all that for both - and it is at those two clubs where you’ll find our latest award winners.

Yeovil Town were on the road to recovery before last month but they may well end up looking back on those four weeks and pin-point how crucial they were.

Mark Cooper cut a troubled figure last year but determined to turn the club’s fortunes around, he refused to wave the white flag and got down to work after relegation.

In October they won five from five defeating Aveley, Worthing, Weymouth and Braintree Town, sinking Southend United in the FA Cup in between.

Fans are becoming more engaged with the club – the Glovers broke the National League South attendance record against the Terras and also raised thousands for a cancer ward weeks later.

Cooper takes the Manager of the Month accolade with the club currently on a 14-match winning run. That defeat to bottom club Havant & Waterlooville feels like a lifetime ago!

Hampton had a month to remember too and Ben Seymour had a lot to do with that.

Talk about a total transformation. The Beavers began last month in the relegation zone but ended it in the play-off picture - just two points off second place!

Seymour played every minute of every game in October, and scored four goals and chipped in with two assists to change the outlook completely in south west London.

Like Yeovil, Hampton also had a 100 per cent record. Getting the better of Havant, Dartford, Taunton, Worthing and Torquay it was a month to really crow about.

Well done to our two very deserving winners!
