A Promotion Hero Returns As Squads Really Take Shape

By Sam Elliott

There’s two weeks to go - and the finishing touches are being put on squads up and down the country.

We’ve now got just a fortnight until National League football returns and clearly the clock is ticking.

Some deals take longer than others to get over the line of course, and sometimes the best signings are the late summer ones so let’s take a little look at what transfers have gone through these past seven days.

John Bostock knows what it takes to win promotion and score at Wembley - the former Notts County midfielder, pictured, is Solihull Moors’ marquee arrival.

Altrincham want another year of progress and FC Halifax’s reliable defender Tylor Golden could help them go one step further.

Torquay United are motoring in the market - Cody Cooke joins after a fantastic season at Bath City.

That’s not it. Finn Tonks is in on loan, Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Omar Mussa heads to the south west and keeper Matt Wonnacott returns.

The Daggers have been doing work all off season - talented Junior Morias has become their tenth signing.

Anyone expecting National League South Promotion Final winners Braintree Town to struggle should have a look at their recruitment - John Akinde has joined their attack.

Zak Emmerson signs for FC Halifax Town from Blackpool for an undisclosed fee.

Scunthorpe United have made defender Brad Nicholson theirs following his departure from National League North play-off winners Boston United.

David Davis is a Kidderminster player, while Woking have moved for Jamie Andrews following his exit from West Brom.

Kieran Burton has departed Hartlepool United to join Buxton.

Hampton welcomed teenage defender Jack Taylor from Sutton United on Thursday.

Chester are looking strong this season - and Kurt Willoughby returns on loan from Oldham Athletic to add even more firepower to their attack.

Welling United have offered midfielder Sam Cornish a deal following a successful trial period.
