A Performance Not Points, But Pennock's Staying Patient

By Sam Elliott

Ady Pennock knows Barrow’s fate is still in their own hands despite surrendering a lead to lose at Macclesfield.

The Bluebirds remain two points above the National League relegation zone after going down 3-1 at Moss Rose.

They avoiding slipping into the bottom four because of events at other grounds - and their manager thinks they deserved more.

“Results going our way are always a bonus but I just want to be positive about us because it was a good performance today against a very good side that are up there on merit,” Pennock told the club’s website.

“It’s a huge week now, I was so disappointed that the Bromley game was called off for Tuesday as obviously when you win you want to be playing games and when you lose you want to be back on the horse straight away and be playing on Tuesday.

“Anyone can beat anyone in this league and we need to pick up the points now, it is still in our hands and that’s the good thing about it. We’ve got to go to Maidenhead next week and we will be confident and look to go on another run.”

Pennock added: “I thought first half we were nice and bright, we went 1-0 up but then conceded a poor goal. Their keeper
Jalal made a great save in the first half to deny Luke James and as they say in football, goals change games. Then they get the penalty. Whilst he got past Jack too easily, I thought it was a bit harsh.

“After that at 2-1 you’re chasing the game and against a side like Macclesfield then they pick you off because you want to get that second goal to bring it back.

"Overall I thought we had a really good go and whilst I’m disappointed with the result, I’m pleased with the performance levels.”
