A Chaotic Tuesday Sees Three New Leaders Take Over

By Sam Elliott

Forest Green Rovers went top of the National League on a Tuesday night that had it all - and they did it without even kicking a ball.

York City not only missed the chance to stretch their legs at the top after they lost 3-0 at Altrincham, but they lose the leadership after their goal difference took a hit.

Two-goal Regan Linney and Matty Kosoylo haunted the Minstermen again - eight months after they lost 6-1 at Moss Lane.

Early goals ended Maidenhead United’s losing run. They came away from Braintree winners, Shawn McCoulsky and Tristan Abrahams on target in the first few minutes.

Oldham Athletic close the gap at the top as they cruised past Boston United. Josh Lundstram and Jame Norwood got the Latics into the comfort zone inside 20 minutes before Josh Stones and Mike Fondop Tallom added some gloss.

Ten man Rochdale won 1-0 at Gateshead, an own goal from Robbie Tinkler was just what they needed.

Sutton United beat Solihull Moors thanks to Jack Wadham’s 14th minute effort making it back-to-back wins as Woking and Southend ended 0-0.

Tom Parkes was the Hartlepool United hero as Lennie Lawrence’s team earned another win, defeating AFC Fylde 2-0.

Dagenham warmed up for their FA Cup second round tie at Wimbledon by defeating Aldershot 3-2, and ended their wait for a win. Luca Woodhouse was on target despite an edgy ending.

Truro City take over at the top of the National League South.

Tyler Harvey hit a stunning hat-trick as the division’s top scorer did some damage to Weymouth.

They jump over Weston-super-Mare, who lost 4-2 at ten man Torquay United. Cody Cooke scored twice in a classic night at Plainmoor.

Eastbourne Borough also lost, but Maidstone United’s form is strong - they triumphed 3-1 at the Gallagher Stadium and the Stones now sit in 11th.

Hampton & RB’s recent strong run ended at Chesham United while Sam Evans got Slough Town going at Chippenham before Dan Bayliss added a second. They ended up winning 3-0.

Elsewhere, Bath City, Farnborough and Hornchurch all have good nights.

In the National League North, King’s Lynn Town had a night to remember as they dismantled in-form Kidderminster Harriers.

Jonathon Margetts’ double and goals from Josh McCammon and Finlay Barnes earned a 4-0 win at the Walks.

But Chorley are the new leaders, Danny Ormerod scored the vital winner at Farsley as Scunthorpe United were held 0-1 at Darlington.

James Spencer earned maximum reward for Curzon Ashton against Southport. Paul Blackett scored twice again for South Shields at Alfreton Town, they won 4-2.

Tom Peers’ double helped Chester down Oxford City as Needham Market gave their survival hopes a huge win with a 1-0 win at Leamington. Luke Ingram got the only goal as Brackley Town did them a favour by winning 1-0 at strugglers Rushall Olympic.
