A Brilliant Boxing Day Sees Some Surprise Results!

Leaders Chesterfield suffered a rare slip - and the teams behind gave them a bit to think behind.

The relentless table toppers came unstuck 2-0 at Solihull Moors, the first time they have failed to score in 28 matches. Mark Beck and Callum Maycock scored the goals to cut their lead.

Bromley manager Andy Woodman ruled his team out of the race at the weekend but a 3-2 win at Ebbsfleet United gives fans hope. Olufela Olomola got the winner, his third goal of the festive period.

Barnet are lagging behind but a 2-0 win over Southend United in the live game. Like on Saturday, Reece Hall-Johnson and Harry Pritchard scored.

Eastleigh got a lesson at Dagenham - Inih Effiong scored twice as the Spitfires went down 4-1 in the capital.

Oldham Athletic ended a trouble few weeks with a 3-1 victory Hartlepool. James Norwood with two, loan star Josh Stones with the other.

FC Halifax won their big play-off battle at Altrincham, Jamie Cooke with what was ultimately the winner and Rochdale beat strugglers AFC Fylde 2-0. Veteran Ian Henderson again on the mark.

Kyran Lofthouse made Gateshead’s point at home to York City, that ended 1-1, as Woking and Aldershot’s derby was deadlocked as both teams fired blanks.

Oxford City grabbed a huge win at troubled Dorking, Reece Fleet made it safe as Wealdstone beat Maidenhead 2-0 with some early goals in Berkshire.

Ashley Hemmings’ late goal grabbed a point for Kidderminster Harriers at Boreham Wood. The game ended 1-1.

The sides heading the National League North title chase won.

Scunthorpe United defeated in-form Farsley. Jason Law and Danny Whitehall hit the target in the second half.

Tamworth keep them on their toes and are level on points with the leaders. Kyle Finn scored again as the Lambs beat Rushall Olympic 2-1.

Chorley stay in their thoughts - a 2-0 at Spennymoor Town was a third win in a row for Andy Preece’s team.

Andy Williams is back with a bang for Hereford. He scored twice in the win at Gloucester City - with a 99th minute winner sparking wild scenes. It sealed a fourth victory on the bounce.

It was equally as dramatic at Curzon Ashton. Trialing Southport 2-0, they turned it around to take the win through James Spencer.

South Shields keep sliding - Blyth Spartans left with a 3-0 win with all the goals coming in the first half.

Jordan Richards’ winner made him Boston United’s hero at King’s Lynn Town as Charlie Caton secured Chester’s festive victory over Warrington.

There were also wins for Brackley Town, Scarborough, Peterborough Sports and Alfreton Town.

In the National League South, Yeovil Town’s lead at the top is now into double figures.

They defeated Taunton Town 4-1 - the goals came from Frank Nouble, Michael Smith, Rhys Murphy and Sonny Blu-Lo Everton.

Hampton dropped points at Slough Town. They thought they had won it through Mason Bloomfield late on, but Slavi Spasov found a very late leveller to make it 3-3.

Chelmsford City secured a comprehensive 3-0 derby day win at Braintree Town, Charlie Ruff on target.

Deadly duo Scott Wilson and Cody Cooke both scored as Bath City went second with a win at Chippenham.

They climb after Truro City struck a dagger through Torquay’s promotion chances. Ben Adelsbury’s scored in the 1-0 win at Plainmoor.

Richard Chin’s winner grabbed all three points for Dartford at Welling United.

Dover Athletic won for the first time since mid August - Iffy Allen’s effort defeated Aveley while Havant & Waterlooville slipped to defeat against Farnborough.

Elsewhere Montel McKenzie’s goal gave Hemel Hempstead all the points at St Albans City as Weymouth and Worthing both collected all three points.
