A Big Night Under The Lights With Plenty On The Line

By Sam Elliott

There’s another busy night of action ahead of us and unless Chesterfield arrest their recent slide we’ll have new National League leaders.

The out-of-sorts Spireites have the toughest possible assignment to try and get their season back on track - a trip to home kings Wrexham.

This could have been a title six-pointer at one point, but Paul Cook’s side have taken just three points from a possible 24 and appear to face a battle to make the play-offs.

The task couldn’t be harder, the Dragons winning 15 of their 16 Racecourse games so far and they’ll leapfrog in-active Notts County with another.

At the other end, time is fast running out for Maidstone United and Scunthorpe, the bottom two meet in Kent and nothing less than a win will do for either team, their fans will feel.

Yeovil Town are suddenly back in the bottom four and Mark Cooper knows his team need to take it to in-form Altrincham, pictured, at Huish Park.

Torquay United are also in trouble but they won’t have it easy at home to a Bromley side who recently lost their top seven spot.

Oldham Athletic will feel they are edging towards safety but can’t rest yet - they’re at back-in-form Barnet, while Wealdstone take their play-off push to FC Halifax Town, who badly need to get back to winning ways after a barren few weeks.

Dorking Wanderers don’t want to drop into the bottom four and they face a Boreham Wood side undefeated in 2023 as York City make the long trip to Eastleigh.

Ebbsfleet United will move further clear in the National League South if they enjoy their visit to Farnborough.

Hampton & RB are looking for their third win inside a week, they welcome play-off hunting Tonbridge Angels.

Chippenham will move out of the bottom four if they win at home to promotion hunters Worthing.

The top two drew 3-3 in the National League North on Saturday and they both take to the field on Tuesday.

King’s Lynn Town are great at home but Buxton now haven’t lost in seven.

AFC Fylde, who led 3-1 before Lynn’s fightback on Saturday, face Farsley Celtic - themselves without a defeat in six.

Two famous names collide as Hereford welcome entertaining Chester. Leamington look to move out of the drop-zone with victory at Banbury United.

Chorley hope to enhance their play-off bid with three points at home to improving Boston United.
