90 Minutes From Wembley: FA Trophy Semi-Final Preview

By Tom Feaheny

It is still all to play for with both games currently seeing the visitors tomorrow going in with a one goal lead.

The prize on offer is the chance to play in the Buildbase FA Trophy final at Wembley on Sunday 20th May, writes Tom Feaheny.

Only one of these four sides has been to the final before in Wealdstone who won it in 1985.

Wealdstone V Brackley Town 24th March

Tomorrow Vanarama National League North side Brackley Town hold a slender advantage going into this match, with their 1-0 lead.

Alex Gudger’s 85th minute goal was the difference on the day but Brackley Town boss knows it is all still to play for.

"They will have a large and vocal support behind them, we know the tie is still open," Kevin Wilkin said.

“We’ve worked very hard to get to this point and we’ve had some very tough games. It’s a great opportunity but Wealdstone will be feeling the same."

For the Vanarama National League South side Wealdstone won three of their Trophy games at home to eventually get to this stage, with their boss knowing the opening goal is all that matters tomorrow.

"We kept it at 1-0 and didn’t go chasing - it was about making sure we have a chance this Saturday and we do," Bobby Wilkinson said.

“We need to score the first goal next weekend. We need to be on the front foot and if we do that we will see what happens.

Gateshead V Bromley 24th March

It has been a dramatic progression for Steve Watson's side who have had three replays, an extra-time winner and coming back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3.

They now must come back from 3-2 down in what was an exciting game of football.

The Heed have reached this stage once before in the 2010-11 campaign they aim this time to get through to the final.

"It has been some journey for us so far, we have been in far worse positions and won, that home advantage is what matters," Gateshead boss Steve Watson said.

"It is a big day for the North-East, a day for everyone to enjoy and hopefully that 12th man can help."

So it is the Ravens who hold the advantage in this game after coming back from a goal down twice they gained the upper hand thanks to a wonderful goal from Louis Dennis.

"We are team that has that belief, we know what is at stake, we have a team full of leaders," Bromley boss Neil Smith said.

"This is a game we will enjoy, we just need to ensure we get the right result as well."
