Having taken stock of his options during his first three games in charge of Gainsborough Trinity, new boss Dave Frecklington has set about breathing fresh life into his battle-weary squad.

And Trinity chairman, Richard Kane has backed his man, sanctioning the recruitment of no less than five new players.

"We have worked hard all week to bring in the faces that we think will freshen things up and give the place the boost it needs in order to stay in this division.

This has seen us bear the fruits of our labour. It has been a crazy day or so really, starting bright and early with conversations and discussions. Waiting for phone calls, emails, faxes. There have certainly been a lot of ts to cross and is to dot, but I am pleased we have been able to back the manager in getting the players he has identified to guide us to safety. Gainsborough Trinity have a proud history of never being relegated in our history and we dont want to lose that record now! Hopefully we will see as many of you as possible on the Martin & Co and show the new and old players just what it means to play for this fantastic club."

In a series of incomings and outgoings, Trinity see Chib Chilaka agree to extend his loan spell at the club from league rivals Harrogate Town until the end of the season.

Cecil Nyoni (pictured) joins from league rivals Alfreton Town as does Callum Chippendale from Lincolnshire neighbours Boston United.

Highly-rated, developing talent Chris Salt (below) also re-joins the club having spent time developing his game lower down the pyramid, while Greg Tempest makes it five new signings for the Holy Blues, as a couple move on as Frecklington puts his stamp on the squad he inherited from Dominic Roma.

He said: "After assessing the group in the three weeks that we've been here it was necessary to make changes and improve in certain areas. I also felt it was important that we added fresh blood into the group to bring us more energy for longer periods in the game and with the additions that we made they are the right characters first and foremost and also very talented young individuals."
