Saturday`s Vanarama National League South Round-Up.....

Maidenhead United surrendered the leadership of the Vanarama National League South on Saturday after losing 2-1 at Hemel Hempstead Town, with Ebbsfleet United taking over top spot following their 3-0 success at struggling Whitehawk.

At Vauxhall Road, Charlie Sheringham, ironically on loan from Maidenhead`s title-rivals Ebbsfleet, gave the Tudors a 32nd minute lead.

Jake Robinson doubled the home side`s lead 12 minutes into the second half to give Alan Devonshire`s high-flyers a mountain to climb.

They were given a helping hand or rather a boot when Reiss Greenidge, another on loan from the Fleet, was sent-off for a kick on Dave Tarpey.

And from the resulting free-kick, Tarpey pulled one back, but it came too late to have an effect on the outcome.

Fleet took full advantage of Maidenhead`s slip to overhaul the long-time leaders, although both have the same points and goal difference.

Against third-bottom Whitehawk at the Enclosed Ground, Danny Kedwell gave the visitors a 34th minute lead that Sean Shields eventually doubled 20 minutes from time.

A relatively comfortable win was confirmed 5 minutes into stoppage time when Kedwell added his second of the game.

It was a bad day all round for the relegation contenders, with only Concord Rangers of the bottom seven managed to get any points on Saturday.

Bottom-markers Margate are now nine points adrift of the safety-mark after losing 1-0 at the Beveree against Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Duncan Culley`s 22nd minute effort proved to be enough for the Beavers in the end.

Second-bottom Bishop`s Stortford went down to a 2-0 defeat at Bulpit Lane to a fourth-placed Hungerford Town.

Recent signing recruit Warren Bentley gave the Crusaders the lead on the half-hour mark.

Luke Williams wrapped up victory for the hosts 20 minutes from time.

Fourth-bottom Gosport Borough suffered a 4-0 Privett Park defeat by third-placed Dartford.

The Darts led through Andy Pugh`s early 7th minute goal at the break.

But two goals in a minute from Luke Wanadio and Keaton Wood on 65 and 66 minutes killed Boro off.

Kaka Dembele added a fourth 7 minutes from time.

Truro City slipped to fifth-bottom spot after a 4-0 defeat at Twerton Park to ninth-placed Bath City.

However, it wasn`t until the final 10 minutes that the White Tigers collapsed after trailing to Axel Andresson's 33rd minute penalty.

Indeed, the Cornishmen could have levelled in the 75th minute when Andresson conceded a spot-kick, but goalkeeper Max O'Leary kept out Niall Thompson's effort.

And Bath doubled their lead through Billy Murphy on 80 minutes before Andy Watkins netted a quickfire brace to make it 4-0.

Weston-super-Mare are a point and a place better off than Truro after losing 2-0 at Tatnam to fifth-placed Poole Town.

It was goalless at the break, but less than a minute after the restart, Marvin Brooks gave the Dolphins the lead.

The battling Seagulls were never out of the game until the very last minute when Luke Burbidge grabbed Poole`s second.

Concord Rangers and Welling United were the two strugglers who had good days.

The Beachboys won 3-1 at home against mid-table Eastbourne Borough to move six points clear of the drop zone.

Tony Stokes gave the home side an early 7th minute lead that Lyle Della-Verde doubled just past the half-hour mark.

Elliott Romain pulled Boro back into the game 4 minutes later.

But a third from Steve King 10 minutes from time earned Concord a vital win.

Welling United are now a point and a place above Concord after winning 2-0 at Park View Road against East Thurrock United.

Second half goals from Adam Coombes on 66 minutes his 32nd in total for the season to date - and Dan Walker 3 minutes from time eased the Wing's relegation fears.

Oxford City and Wealdstone, two teams who are reasonably well clear of the bottom three without being completely safe, shared a 1-1 draw at Grosvenor Vale.

Poor defending allowed the hosts to open the scoring on 4 minutes when Josh Walker fired home.

City increased the tempo after the break and deservedly levelled on 50 minutes when new loan signing Kaiman Anderson scored his first for the club as the ball ran to him in a crowded penalty area.

Wealdstone stepped up the pressure towards the end of the half and went close on a couple of occasions, but the Hoops earned a share of the spoils.

Chelmsford City and St Albans City remain seventh and eighth respectively after they too shared a 1-1 draw at Melbourne Stadium.

It looked as though the Clarets were heading for all three points as they led through Elliott Buchanan`s 13th minute opener right until 5 minutes from time when Louie Theophanous popped up with the Saints` leveller.
